( -- January 18, 2016) Seattle, WA -- A new website intended to help homeowners plan and construct a new addition to their home is online today.

The Home Addition Builders website provides tips and advice on how to find a local building contractor who has the experience to guide homeowners through the process of planning, organizing and carrying out a major home remodeling project.

The site's editor, Sam DeMars, said this new site isn't designed to teach the homeowner everything they need to know in order to construct a home addition, but instead, it is designed to help a homeowner find that one specific professional who can help them organize the project from start to finish.

"This website is pretty focused," stated DeMars, "It is built for homeowners who are considering a home addition. We don't discuss basic or simple home remodeling projects, it's solely focused on homeowners and contractors who want to add a new room or two to their existing property."

"The idea of tearing down exterior walls, running new electric wire and plumbing is a pretty big and scary scenario to a homeowner," continued DeMars, "The average homeowner can't take a project like that on by themselves. They need to work with a building professional who has a small team of experienced workers to get it done right."

Home Addition Projects Are Up All Across the Country
The combination of rising house prices, high real estate sales transaction costs and often limited supply of affordable homes are helping to keep many homeowners in their current home longer than ever before. Many of these homeowners are deciding to invest their time and money in a large remodeling project rather than moving to a different house.

"The process of selling one home, buying another and then moving is a major, stressful ordeal," DeMars said, "A lot of people have decided it is a better idea to just use their resources to improve their existing home rather than go through the selling and buying process."

"Most homes aren't perfect. They have limitations. Most homeowners are painfully aware of their own home's limitations," concluded DeMars, "A major remodeling project is generally focused on eliminating as many of those limitations and pain points as possible."

According to DeMars, some of the most common projects are adding a new master suite, expanding the kitchen, adding an additional bathroom, remodeling an attic or building an area for a mother-in-law suite.

The website is currently centered on homeowners in Washington State, but DeMars said the company will be expanding to other states as well.

DeMars concluded that because her site is still new, most cities and pages on the website don't have specific contractor or builder listings yet, but they will soon. For more details, you can visit or their Bellevue page.

( -- December 18, 2015) Seattle, Washington -- A new website designed to help Washington State homeowners find a house foundation repair company has been released.

The Emergency Foundation Repair website is now underway with the intent of providing advice and information about house foundation repair consultants and companies in various cities around the state.

The website's publisher, Sam DeMars, said that this new site will be set up in a way so that residents in any city can see and browse through the details of a few different local companies. Each of these companies will have experience in repairing and correcting the foundation problems of homes in their area.

"When people first learn or think they might have a problem with their foundation, they are, of course, worried, and they don't have any idea who they should call first," stated DeMars, "So we're hoping that our new site can help point them in a good direction for them to get started working on their problem."

"There are companies out there that focus just on foundation repair work," continued DeMars, "There aren't a lot of them because this type of repair work doesn't come up that often and companies need to acquire the right expertise and equipment to do the job right."

"That being said, a homeowner should still do a little due diligence when picking which company to work with. This type of repair is a big repair so choosing the right company is pretty important," she said, "We hope that our short list of available repair companies will help these homeowners make the right choice."

Foundation Problems Are Fixable
While some foundation problems are small, many others are substantial and are difficult to fix, DeMars stated. She said that many homeowners become overwhelmed at the thought of what it will take to correct their situation.

"I think the average homeowner sometimes sees a foundation problem as an issue that looks impossible to fix," DeMars said, "But the right company, with the right equipment and experience, can usually correct most problems."

"The repair to some foundation problems can be complicated and even almost delicate in some cases," concluded DeMars, "If you tell a homeowner that the only way to fix their home is to jack up the entire house, repair or replace their block foundation, and then lower their house back down again, many of them practically faint at the idea, but an experienced company can often successfully get it done. Kind of amazing, really."

DeMars suggested that anyone who is worried about their foundation should get in contact with a specialist right away and have their house inspected so they will at least know what their situation is.

She also warned that while the website is live, not all the individual city pages are fully developed yet with a good list of recommended repair companies.

( -- November 30, 2015) -- A new website designed to help homeowners get more space and usability from their home’s closets is now on the Web.

The Closet Contractor website is starting with the hope of providing advice and information to homeowners mostly around Washington State. The site intends to help people find experienced closet designers and builders who can help them either build a new closet or remodel their existing one.

The site's editor, Sam DeMars, said that this new site will originally be focused on Washington homeowners, but the site could expand to other states as time goes by.

"The idea behind the site was to help get homeowners matched up with a closet designer in their area," stated DeMars, "There are some people who are really good at getting the most out of someone’s available closet space, but most homeowners don’t know who these people are."

"Some people might think a closet makeover is something that only someone with a luxury home would be interested in doing," continued DeMars, "And certainly we see more of it in the luxury market, but homeowners with average houses can really benefit from having an optimized closet, storage and dressing area too."

"These closet makeovers can be large or small in scope," she said, "Some can involve removing or adding walls, and that’s where the imagination and experience of the designer comes into play. They can picture the possibilities available in a space. They know what has worked in the past and they can often come up with some pretty terrific ideas and plans."

While most large home supply stores sell closet kits and accessories that homeowners can install themselves, DeMars believes that many people can be surprised at how great a custom-designed area can look and function.

"The type of closets most people think about are the common white wire components that the big home goods stores sell," DeMars said, "While those kits are certainly functional and easy for the average homeowner to install, their popularity with the higher-end home market has diminished quite a bit lately. Many home buyers and homeowners are looking for a solid wood shelving system rather than that common white wire look. Real estate agents know the impact that a fabulous closet can make on some home buyers."

"A custom-built closet may not be the answer for some people, but for others it could be a terrific home improvement option," concluded DeMars, "And for those people who are interested in pursuing it, our site attempts to provide those people with a short list of good local designers to help them out."

DeMars noted that her site is new and still in the development phase, so it may be a while until each city has a complete list of local designers and builders.
